Rewaxing a tired wrap
After months of use a wrap starts to lose its grip. The creases go pale, the corners stop holding. That doesn't mean it's finished. It just needs a little more wax.
What you need
Baking paper, a baking sheet, and either a block of beeswax or a few shavings from an old candle stub of pure beeswax. A cheap paintbrush helps.
How
Heat the oven to about 175°F. Lay the wrap flat on baking paper on the sheet. Scatter a small handful of wax shavings over it — less than you think. Put it in for three to five minutes, until the wax has melted. Brush it out to the edges, then lift the wrap by two corners and wave it for half a minute while it sets.
Watch for
Too much wax leaves it stiff and flaky. If that happens, put it back in for a minute on fresh paper and let the extra soak away.
